Arboleda Brisa rises in the latest James Suckling Chile report

To see Chile beginning to push the boundaries of what´s possible is heart-warming

During his recent visit to Chile, James Suckling –considered the world’s most influential wine critic by Forbes magazine– tasted over 1,200 wines for his report. Viña Arboleda, in accordance with its purity and wine style, once again was highlighted by the critic, scoring 94 points with Arboleda Brisa 2017 and Arboleda Syrah 2017, while Arboleda Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 and Arboleda Carmenere 2017 scored 93 points: “This is how Chilean Carmenere should be”, stated for this last wine. “Buzzing with complexity”, “real structure and concentration” or “Wonderful acidity and fruit tension” were some of the expert’s descriptions regarding Arboleda wines. Once again, this evidences its consistency, distinctive quality and character.

94 pts. 2017 ARBOLEDA BRISA D.O. Aconcagua Valley:
“This is buzzing with complexity on the nose with iron and tile undertones, floating amidst dark cherries, pure blackcurrants and herbal tones. Tightly constructed on the palate, which is full-bodied but very edgy, thanks to grainy tannins and punchy acidity. Finely tuned but dialed-in and serious. Long and minerally on the finish with undertones of heather and stones.”

94 pts. 2017 ARBOLEDA SYRAH D.O. Aconcagua Valley:
“Dark plums and morello cherries combine with fresher nuances of blueberries and violets, as well as dark chocolate, vanilla and cloves on the nose. Lots of minerally undertones, too. Wonderful acidity/fruit tension to this on the palate with a really round core of dark fruit, bolstered by foursquare tannins. Chewy on the rather long finish.”

93 pts. 2017 ARBOLEDA CABERNET SAUVIGNON D.O. Aconcagua Valley:
“A spicy cabernet with capsicum, fresh cloves, cedar and then blackcurrants and iodine. While the dark fruit is very fresh and attractive, the center palate is very solid and layers of grainy tannins provide structure and depth. Medium-bodied and tight on the finish.”

93 pts. 2017 ARBOLEDA CARMENERE D.O. Aconcagua Valley:
“This is how Chilean carmenere should be. Unashamedly herbal with its dark pepper and blackberry-leaf undertones, but ripe at the same time, sporting black-olive and brambleberry character. Shows real structure and concentration on the palate, chewy tannins enveloping dark-fruit flavors that permeate through the medium-long finish.”

92 pts. 2018 ARBOLEDA PINOT NOIR D.O. Aconcagua Costa:
“I love the pomegranate character here and how it intermingles with fresh tea leaves and undergrowth. Medium body with a cool-fruited core of berries, interlaced with firm tannins and culminating in a tangy finish.”

91 pts. 2018 ARBOLEDA CHARDONNAY D.O. Aconcagua Costa:
“A very mineral-driven chardonnay that gets going with flint, citrus, green apples and then cloves and schist. A very taut palate with edgy acidity, but good pear-drop undertones to keep it generous and balanced.”
