Viña Arboleda among Robert Parker’s Top Ranking Wineries

“Very tasty Pinot that might make you think of Burgundy
more than Chile.”
Luis Gutiérrez

Viña Arboleda was one of the top ranking wineries in the latest annual report on Chilean wines of The Wine Advocate, the publication from Robert Parker. Luis Gutiérrez, the critic in charge of rating the wines from Spain and South America, scored all of the wines presented at 90 points.

Gutiérrez recognized the distinctive quality, consistency and character of Arboleda wines, mentioning the Aconcagua Costa appellation and its slate soils several times in his report.

“…Arboleda wines are sourced from plots closer to the sea in search of mineral, austere wines, always bone dry and sometimes strict (…) that are very apt for the table.”.-Luis Gutiérrez, “Chile: Think Outside the Box,” 31 Dec’15.

Luis Gutiérrez’s main comments were:

90 pts.
Cabernet Sauvignon 2013
Valle de Aconcagua
“This is juicy with good nerve and firm tannins within the austere but never aggressive style of Arboleda. A very pleasant Cabernet.”

90 pts.
Carmenere 2013
Valle de Aconcagua
“The 2013 Carmenere feels fresh without being green; it’s balsamic and spicy with some notes of tobacco leaf. (…) This is a more elegant vintage with good acidity and some grainy tannins, soft and fresh.”

90 pts.
Pinot Noir 2014
Aconcagua Costa
“Very tasty Pinot that might make you think of Burgundy more than Chile.”

90 pts.
Sauvignon Blanc 2015
Aconcagua Costa
“It has high acidity and a subdued minerality, and ends quite dry.”

90 pts.
Chardonnay 2014
Aconcagua Costa
“The nose has some aromas of nuts, hay and straw over a core of white fruit. (…) This is a very good Chardonnay for food.”
