Arboleda Wine Selected as the Best Pinot Noir from Chile by Decanter

“This is a very special Arboleda with lifted nose of flower, strawberry and iodine. Moss. Medium body, lively finish. Lovely the finish. Lightly decadent. Beautiful.”
James Suckling

The Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA) recently announced the results of one of the world’s most prestigious and influential international wine competitions. For the 14th version of the competition, nearly 17,000 samples of wine were evaluated by a select panel of more than 200 experts from around the world.

In this edition of the competition, the 2016 Arboleda Pinot Noir, a wine that expresses the pure and authentic character of its Aconcagua Costa terroir, was named the best of its category and received the maximum distinction—a Platinum Medal—and the title “Best Pinot Noir from Chile”.

Moreover, in the latest report on Chilean wines, the renowned US critic James Suckling once again highlighted the freshness and elegance of the 2016 Pinot Noir. He gave it 93 points and described it saying: “This is a very special Arboleda with lifted nose of flower, strawberry and iodine. Moss. Medium body, lively finish. Lovely the finish. Lightly decadent. Beautiful.”

Suckling tasted more than 800 labels during his fifth trip to Chile and wrote in his article that the Aconcagua Costa appellation “makes excellent Pinot Noir with a purity of fruit comparable to the pinots from California or South Australia and a structure and freshness comparable to Burgundy.”

This exceptional wine is 100% Pinot Noir from the Chilhué Vineyard in Aconcagua Costa, just 12 kilometres from the Pacific Ocean, where the soil is formed over metamorphic (volcanic) rocks such as schist and slate that combine with the influence of the cool coastal climate to produce unique grapes for Arboleda wines.
