Sakura and Arboleda shine at Prowein

Sakura, the Japanese international wine competition lead by the expert Yumi Tanabe, seized the context and audience of Prowein, one of the world’s most important wine fairs, to highlight the qualities of Chilean wines that make them the perfect complement for the refined Japanese cuisine. The event consisted of a wine and sushi pairing, aimed at wine writers from around the world. Arboleda wines were selected for this presentation due to their successful track record in this competition.

This succession of awards began in 2014, when Arboleda Sauvignon Blanc 2013 obtained a Double Gold Medal and a Diamond Trophy. In 2015, Arboleda Chardonnay 2013 attained the “GRAND PRIX” Best Wine for Asian Foods -Sushi-. This was the most spectacular award within the competition, granted by a jury of 200 Japanese food and wine experts who selected it unanimously as the world’s best wine to pair with sushi. Additionally, in the 2016 competition, Arboleda Sauvignon Blanc 2015 was once again awarded with a Double Gold Medal.

During the tasting, the invitees learned more about Aconcagua Costa, the origin of Viña Arboleda’s whites and Pinot Noir; of its unique characteristics that make it a world class appellation, and about the wines’ qualities, being gastronomic benchmarks for the Japanese palate.
